Made it last evening and it was a great hit. Fattoush is a Lebanese salad, good for hot weather. This recipe uses two unusual ingredients: sumac and purslane. Sumac, usually sold ground, is ground red berries and used in Middle Eastern, particularly Lebanese, cooking.
Steps to make Fattoush:
- Chop all vegetables
- Place in a large bowl
- Mix veggies
- Add all your dry/wet ingredients. With veggies
- Then mix
- Don’t forget to taste as you go because you don’t want it to be too tart/sour
The next morning, toast the pitta breads until lightly golden. When cool, tear into pieces and combine with the salad and dressing. Fattoush (Arabic: فتوش , also fattush, fatush, fattoosh, and fattouche) is a Levantine salad made from toasted or fried pieces of khubz (Arabic flat bread) combined with mixed greens and other vegetables, such as radishes and tomatoes.
