Oha soup is a traditional soup similar to the bitter leaf soup but cooked with oha leaves. Oha leaves is used in preparing oha soup, it is called ora leaves in some areas in the Eastern part of Nigeria like in. Oha soup also known as Ora soup, Ofe Ora or Oha by the Igbo cultural groups and Efere Nkpa by Calabar cultural group is one of the most delicious soups eaten in Nigeria. Oha Soup, popularly referred to as Ofe Oha by the Igbo people of Eastern Nigeria is an absolutely delicious traditional soup recipe.

Instructions to make Oha soup:
  1. Wash your Banga and Cocoyam and pour in a pot. Add water and cook till tender.
  2. Pound Banga and add water to extract the juice.
  3. Season your meat and fresh fish with salt, pepper and seasoning cube. Set on fire and allow to simmer for about 5mins and set aside
  4. Set your Banga extract and add your pepper immediately and cover to simmer for about 5mins and then pour your meat stock and meat and cover to cook for some minutes
  5. Add your ogiri and then followed by your smoked fish and cover to simmer for some minutes more.
  6. Pound your Cocoyam and cut into tiny lumps, put in the pot and cover to Dissovle
  7. Now add your fresh fish,then your uziza and lastly, your oha leaf. And stir together
  8. Your delicious oha soup is ready.. Serve hot with any swallow of your choice. Mine went down with my cassava flour swallow 😁😁😁

Oha soup isn't exactly a go-to kind of soup because the main. Oha soup is a super African soup, especially when garnished with assorted meat, dry fish and stockfish. It is prepared as a soup with other condiments and served with fufu, eba or pounded yam. And the best oha soup is made from fresh oha leaves. Because of the above, the only One soup I think can be made with the dry oha leaves is Ofe Onu mmuo.
